Will Brenton

Will Brenton was born in Leeds in 1962 but grew up in Liverpool.

In 1986 he graduated from the Welsh College of Music and Drama and became a professional actor, starring in 'Godspell', 'Lark Rise to Candleford', 'The Meg and Mog Show' and various seasons at the Players Theatre before appearing in The West End's highly acclaimed 'Blood Brothers' playing Sammy opposite Kiki Dee and Stephanie Lawrence.

Later he starred in many of the pantomimes at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, which he also wrote with Iain Lauchlan. Television appearances included 'Inspector Morse', 'Flying Lady' and presenter of BBC's 'Playdays'. Whilst at 'Playdays' he directed more than 100 episodes before working at the BBC directing the location based Art Show 'Bitsa' after which he moved into a two year stint on 'Coronation Street' and 'Emmerdale'.

Since then he has risen to the top of his profession, co-creating some of today’s best known programmes for children, and receiving many awards, including a BAFTA, a ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY AWARD, as well as six BAFTA nominations and another 14 awards and nominations, ranging from Best Animation to Best International Show (BROADCAST AWARDS, BRITISH ANIMATION AWARDS) He is best known for co-creating, writing, directing and producing shows for children through his own production companies, Tell-Tale productions, formed with Iain Lauchlan, and now Wish Films, formed with Iain Lauchlan and Helen Cadwallader. Together they created and produced the BBC's biggest ever commission for children TV, 'The Tweenies'
